What is Quercetin?
Quercetin is a natural, yellow plant pigment (flavonoid) that belongs to the group of secondary plant substances known as polyphenols. Quercetin is found in broccoli, apples, capers, radicchio, dill, onions, and black currants, among others, but can be damaged by peeling or heating. Larger amounts of this valuable plant substance are found in the flower buds of the Japanese pagoda tree and the native sea buckthorn.
Studies suggest that its mode of action is similar to that of OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins) from grape seeds.
